Tata Unveils Plans For Multiple EV Launches, Including The Curvv In 2024

08 August, 2023: Tata Motors is gearing up for a significant expansion of its electric vehicle endeavours in the near future. The company has confirmed its plans to introduce a total of four electric vehicles by the start of 2024. Out of these four EVs, three are set to be unveiled by the end of this year. This lineup includes the updated iteration of the Tata Nexon EV, which currently holds the title of India's highest-selling electric car. Alongside this, Tata has also planned three entirely new electric vehicle models for an upcoming launch in the Indian market.

Tata Motors has officially confirmed that its upcoming electric vehicle lineup will consist of the Punch EV, Harrier EV, and Curvv. The Punch EV, crafted on the foundation of the manufacturer's compact SUV model, is also poised to claim the title of India's most compact electric SUV upon its release.

The announcement was made at the company’s 58th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held recently. N Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Motors, announced the company's aspiration for electric vehicles to constitute a significant portion of its overall vehicle portfolio in the near future. Both Tata Motors India and Jaguar Land Rover, under the Tata umbrella, are strategically committed to substantial electric vehicle initiatives. Chandrasekaran highlighted the company's track record of introducing various electric products, with the imminent launch of an upgraded version of the Nexon being a prime example of this trend.

Jaguar Land Rover, a British car manufacturer under the ownership of Tata Motors, has established a goal to make 65 percent of its vehicle lineup eco-friendly by the close of this decade. Chandrasekaran revealed that JLR plans to begin accepting bookings for fully electric versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in the upcoming months. Moreover, a sequence of fresh Jaguar models, all-electric in nature, is anticipated to debut between the latter part of the following year and the early months of 2025.

Tata has maintained a level of secrecy concerning the Harrier EV, revealing only its V2L capability. The upcoming Tata Curvv EV, potentially named Tata Frest, is designed around the manufacturer's Gen2 powertrain and boasts an impressive range of up to 500 kilometres on a solitary charge. The Nexon EV, which holds the title of Tata's most popular electric vehicle, has been observed undergoing road tests in anticipation of its release. The only model that Tata hasn't unveiled yet is the Punch EV. In a recent move, the company introduced the compressed natural gas (CNG) variant of its compact SUV.

As the world transitions towards cleaner energy alternatives, Tata's latest offerings not only demonstrate the brand's technological prowess but also cater to the growing demand for eco-conscious transportation. With these launches, Tata Motors paves the way for a more electrified tomorrow, redefining industry standards and reaffirming its position as a frontrunner in the EV revolution. As consumers increasingly prioritise environmental responsibility, Tata's visionary approach is set to reshape the automotive landscape and foster a cleaner, more sustainable future for generations to come.
